==Derivations==
[[Aries]] is traditionally the first constellation out of 12 in the Zodiac. It represents a ram. It is a [[Fire]]-element sign and a Cardinal sign (signs considered dynamic and able to initiate things). Aries governs the 1st House (identity, self-image, expression) and it is ruled by the celestial body [[Mars's Ring|Mars]]. Aries is a constellation bounded by [[Pisces Subligar|Pisces]], [[Taurus Subligar|Taurus]], Cetus, Perseus, and Triangulum. Its named stars are (from Alpha to Delta): Hamal, Sheratan, Mesarthim, Botein. Traditionally, people born from March 21 (or March 20, depending on when the Vernal Equinox falls) to April 19 are considered Aries. Aries is Latin for "Ram".

In Greek mythology, this constellation represents the Golden-Fleeced Ram (Krios Khrysomallos [Latin Aries Chrysomallus]) was a mythological ram who could talk and fly. This ram rescued the 2 children of the goddess Nephele, who were about to be sacrificed and asked the children to sacrifice himself in their place. His selfless act got him immortalized in the stars as the constellation Aries. His [[Golden Fleece]] was placed in a holy grove protected by [[Ares's Cuirass Set|Ares]], the god of war. This fleece would be the one sought after by Jason and the Argonauts.
