The total amount of spike damage dealt is capped at 50% of the caster's Maximum HP at cast time. This cap can be increased with Job Point Gifts, and by wearing Heathen's Cuirass +1. When the damage cap is reached, the spikes effects wears off even if 180 seconds have not passed.
Dread Spikes does not drain damage incurred from TP attacks or Physical Blue Magic cast by enemies. This includes attacks by monsters which have TP-move properties to them (e.g. Mantids, Yztarg, etc).
The HP absorbed will not generate [[enmity]] for the Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight will still be [[K.O.|KO'd]] if a single attack inflicts an amount of damage that exceeds their remaining HP.

When enemies cast Dread Spikes, the base duration in 60 seconds.
