Yallery Brown warned him, however, to never thank him or else he would stop helping. Yallery Brown brought trouble for the farmer despite performing his daily work for him; his friends avoided him out of fear for this fairy. The farmer tried to get rid of him by thanking Yallery Brown, but the spirit would go on to ruin all work the farmer did as well as his life. The farmer died alone and miserable.</div>
