These NMs are named for the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Tri-Stars Black Tri-Stars], a famous trio of enemy Mobile Suit pilots from the 1979 animated TV series ''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Suit_Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam],'' considered by many over time to be a heavy influence on Japanese culture (akin to ''Star Trek'' or ''Star Wars'' in the US; perhaps even moreso).

Note that, in this TV series, these three pilots were known for using their famous "Jet Stream Attack;" one of the more dangerous and well known Bat Triplet attacks is called "Jet Stream."
