The [[Uskumru]] is derived from the Turkish ''uskumru'', referring to a type of mackerel. In a real world comparison there are several direct correlations. Both mackerel and Uskumru like tropical and temperate seas, both live offshore but can also be found in deep water near coastlines, both are known for their fighting ability, and (although the FFXI picture of a Uskumru lacks detail) they both appear to have a slim, cylindrical shape.
